If They Could Talk!

Thought that since it is a rainy day here and not much to Blog about, I’d post a couple of pictures. I’ve added my take on what they might be saying or thinking just to jazz it up a bit. I hope you enjoy!

"I know I'll get caught but that grass sure is greener!"

"I know I'll get caught but that grass sure is greener!"

"Please don't make me get up..it's time for a little me time!"

"Please don't make me get up..it's time for a little me time!"

"I've got to do something..even if it's bad!"

"I've got to do something..even if it's bad!"

"Are you kidding???"

"Are you kidding???"

"I'm giving you my mean look..run damnit!"

"I'm giving you my mean look..run damnit!"

" Oh dear Lord, what on earth is that dog doing?"

" Oh dear Lord, what on earth is that dog doing?"

" Naomi: You're really comfortable! Ashley: Why me?"

" Naomi: You're really comfortable! Ashley: Why me?"

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I love this life! Everyday there is so much to do and at times it gets to be overwhelming but all I need to do is spend some time with the critters and I remember why it is all worthwhile.

On a business note. I’ve received countless emails questioning why our lotions are not available on our website right now. Well that’s an easy one..they are all sold out. Next week I’ll be making up new batches and once they are ready, I’ll bring the inventory on the website up.  Crazy season is upon us from now until December 24th, so inventory figures are subject to change by the minute.

Until tomorrow..speaking of tomorrow, it’s Friday, that means Fiber Art’s Friday..be sure to join in. Have a good evening!

Fiber Arts Friday – My New Old Girl

What I’ve done today is exclusive to Fiber Arts Friday. Many of you who read my Blog have already met my “New Old Girl” but for those who have not, here she is:

I got her last weekend at the Fall Fiber Festival. She is a “Mystery Wheel” with no markings of any kind. We thought it was an Ashford but it doesn’t appear to be. Best guess, it’s around 50 or more years old, in very good condition..of course it needs work, which I have already started. On Sunday it was an effort to make it spin, now I’ve spun a half a bobbin and it’s moving like a dream. It would be nice to get an idea of its maker because it only had one bobbin with it and it could use a couple of smaller parts.

Now for those who do not already know, I paid $60.00 for her! I’m thinking that this will make a nice demonstration wheel in the future. I just love it.

Noil Silk – Fiber Arts Friday

IMG_1215

As most of you know the other side of my farm business is goats milk products. This time of year I am kicking it into high gear getting ready for Holiday Markets, Open Houses, and Shows. One item that I make (knit or crochet) is a big supply of wash cloths. Usually out of organic cotton. I keep them simple because the only time I can knit or crochet is late evening after chores and dinner.

This year I am changing up what the cloths are made from. I’ve noticed many specialty facial and body cloths are made from a dense over twisted cotton and are sold as exfoliating cloths. Not being a super cotton spinner and not liking any of the yarns I had found in cotton to try that would accomplish a cloth that would be exfoliating too, my search brought me to Noil Silk – raw rough spun silk.

I’ve made a dozen or so of them and used one as a test. So far, after using it in the shower and laundering it 6 times – it’s definitely a winner! The cloth keeps it shape, of course no shrinkage and it maintains its exfoliating quality. I am only using yarns that are natural colored or natural dyed and organic.

From my standpoint…I think their great!
